Getting there

Travelling by car

Driving from the north:

If you are driving on the motorway ring road A99, take the exit “Ottobrunn” [no. 20], turn left towards “Höhenkirchen” and follow the road for approx. four miles until you reach the village of “Dürrnhaar”. Here you continue on the main road past fields on the right and left until you see four new houses on the right-hand side. The fourth house is ‘Ayinger Strasse18’, which can be easily identified by its dark red front-door and garage doors. Just turn into the drive and park your car in front of the house.

Driving from the south (from Salzburg):

If you are driving on the motorway A8 towards Munich, take the exit “Hofolding” [no. 96], turn left towards “Hofolding” and follow the road for approx. three miles through Hofolding until you reach the village of “Faistenhaar”. At the first (and only) cross-roads in Faistenhaar you turn left and immediately right and follow the signposts to “Dürrnhaar”. After a mile the road ends, turn right and you will see four new houses on the right-hand side. The fourth house is ‘Ayinger Strasse 18’, which can be easily identified by its dark red entrance and garage doors. Just turn into the drive and park your car in front of the house.

Travelling by plane

Flying in Munich (MUC) airport:

At the airport follow the green “S” signs to the S-Bahn trains. You can buy a ticket from a machine on the platform, either a Single-Tageskarte (1 person) or a Group Dayticket (up to 5 persons) type M-5 for the Munich area. The ticket costs EUR 13.70 (Single) or EUR 25.70 (Partner/Group) [9/2022].

Board the S-Bahn S8 train which operates every 20 minutes and get off at the station ‘Ostbahnhof’. Change platforms and take the S-Bahn S7 train to ‘Aying’ or ‘Kreuzstrasse’. Get off at Dürrnhaar station.

Be aware that:

Duerrnhaar is a small Bavarian village which only has a train station, a maypole and a pub. There are no shopping facilities. For shopping we recommend you get off the train one station earlier at “Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn” and go to the EDEKA supermarket [open Monday to Saturday until 8pm] next to the train station to shop for food. For those guests who are staying longer we can offer to take you by car to the supermarket to do the ‘initial’ shopping.
