Getting there

Travelling by car

Driving from the north:

If you are driving on the motorway ring road A99, take the exit “Ottobrunn” [no. 20], turn left towards “Höhenkirchen” and follow the road for approx. four miles until you reach the village of “Dürrnhaar”. Here you continue on the main road past fields on the right and left until you see four new houses on the right-hand side. The fourth house is ‘Ayinger Strasse18’, which can be easily identified by its dark red front-door and garage doors. Just turn into the drive and park your car in front of the house.

Driving from the south (from Salzburg):

If you are driving on the motorway A8 towards Munich, take the exit “Hofolding” [no. 96], turn left towards “Hofolding” and follow the road for approx. three miles through Hofolding until you reach the village of “Faistenhaar”. At the first (and only) cross-roads in Faistenhaar you turn left and immediately right and follow the signposts to “Dürrnhaar”. After a mile the road ends, turn right and you will see four new houses on the right-hand side. The fourth house is ‘Ayinger Strasse 18’, which can be easily identified by its dark red entrance and garage doors. Just turn into the drive and park your car in front of the house.

Travelling by train

At the central Munich station follow the green “S” signs to the S-Bahn train-station on the lower floor and board an S-BahnS7 train to ‘Aying’ or ‘Kreuzstrasse’. After 36 minutes the train stops at Dürrnhaar without your having to change trains. The S7 train operates daily every 20 and 40 minutes, i.e. twice an hour. The last train departs at approx. 1 a.m. As for tickets, select the Single- (one person) or Partner-Tageskarte (up to five persons) for München XXL. The ticket costs EUR 8.90 (Single) or EUR 16.10 (Partner/Group). It can be used the entire calendar day for unlimited travel within the city of Munich.

Coming from the direction Rosenheim:

At Rosenheim station you should change onto the regional train towards Holzkirchen and at the station ‘BahnhofKreuzstrasse’ take the S-Bahn S7 train to Dürrnhaar. Travelling time is about 53 minutes, the train operates hourly. Tickets cost ca. EUR 10.00 per person.

Walking from Duerrnhaar station:

Leave the platform on the left (train is behind you), after 50 meters at the end of the road, turn right. Carry on a further 30 metres then turn left into the Kirchfeldstrasse and continue for about 500 metres to the end. Now you must cross the main road and walk right for about 100 metres to reach Ayinger Strasse 18.

Travelling by plane

Flying in Munich (MUC) airport:

At the airport follow the green “S” signs to the S-Bahn trains. You can buy a ticket from a machine on the platform, either a Single-Tageskarte (1 person) or a Partner-Tageskarte (up to 5 persons) for the whole Munich area (in German: ‘Gesamtnetz’). The ticket costs EUR 13.00 (Single) or EUR 24.30 (Partner/Group).

Board the S-Bahn S8 train which operates every 20 minutes and get off at the station ‘Ostbahnhof’. Change platforms and take the S-Bahn S7 train to ‘Aying’ or ‘Kreuzstrasse’. Get off at Dürrnhaar station.

Be aware that:

Duerrnhaar is a small Bavarian village which only has a train station, a maypole and a pub. There are no shopping facilities. For shopping we recommend you get off the train one station earlier at “Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn” and go to the Tengelmann supermarket [open Monday to Saturday until 8pm] next to the train station to shop for food. For those guests who are staying longer we can offer to take you by car to the supermarket to do the ‘initial’ shopping.
